The Harweel facility sits hundreds of kilometres from Muscat, deep in the southern Oman desert. Beyond the challenges of mobilising people and equipment to such a remote environment, the refinery handles high-pressure hydrocarbons rich in hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). This combination of toxicity and corrosivity meant one thing: every critical joint had to be right first time. A single leak could risk personnel safety, threaten start-up schedules, and lead to costly downtime - none of which were acceptable for this flagship sour-gas development. Petroleum Development Oman required a partner who understood the operational risks and could deliver absolute certainty in joint integrity from day one.
Hydratight deployed a fully integrated Joint Integrity Assurance team, combining specialist manpower with proven execution systems to ensure leak-free performance across all critical pipework and equipment connections. Our scope included:
Joint Integrity Engineers
to design, validate and manage a robust assurance program
Inspectors & Supervisors
to oversee site execution and maintain strict compliance with project specifications
Controlled Bolt Tightening Crews
trained and certified for high-hazard environments
Onsite Machining Teams
to support flange preparation and ensure sealing surfaces were within tolerance
Full traceability and documentation
providing complete visibility and confidence at every stage
Thanks to Hydratight’s engineered processes, competent workforce, and disciplined control of joint records, the Harweel facility achieved:
Hydratight supports operators worldwide with specialist personnel, precision equipment, and proven integrity systems that reduce risk and deliver leak-free performance - right first time.
