Asset Type
Subsea Water Injection Risers
Location
KOF1 & LIF1 Platforms, Democratic Republic of Congo
Project Scope
Leak repair of two 8-inch subsea riser flanges
Solution
Custom MORSEALâ„¢ Flange Enclosure Clamps
Campaign Duration
11-day subsea operation
Outcome
Leak-free first installation, production uninterrupted
Two eight-inch subsea water injection riser flanges on Total E&P Congo’s KOF1 and LIF1 platforms were showing leaks. Corrosion and potential loosening of flange bolting threatened joint integrity. The repair had to meet several critical requirements:
On-line execution
Production could not be interrupted.
Operator safety
Working in a hazardous subsea environment in an isolated African location.
Space constraints
Low-profile solution necessary due to limited installation access.
Pressure integrity
The repair needed to restore full structural and pressure reliability.
Hydratight proposed a custom MORSEALâ„¢ Flange Enclosure Clamp solution, delivering a compact, low-profile repair that eliminated the need for subsea welding. Key elements of the solution:
Dual sealing system
Sealant injected into the clamp cavity created a second barrier to prevent future corrosion and bolting loss.
Rapid installation
Hydratight engineered, manufactured, and supervised the clamps, working closely with Total and their subsea contractor.
Efficient subsea campaign
The project was completed in just 11 days, including post-installation pressure testing.
